I read that these are able to be used in a .22 lr gun. If i have a bolt action .22lr can i shoot .17mach2's in it or am i going to screw somthing up? thanks!

I may be possible to fire an 17HM2 in a 22LR but because the 17 bullet is so much smaller than the 22 the accuracy would be horrible at best. Most guns chambered for 22LR could be converted to 17HM2 with a simple barrel change.

It said that the Ruger 10/22 would be able to shoot the .17M2 with just a heavier spring and bolt for the heavier recoil, so if i have a bolt it wont matter because it just keeps it shut right?

You need to change the barrel on the 10/22 at the same time as the spring and bolt. I wouldn't suggest shooting a 17mach2 in anything that isn't chambered for it.

rammers right, you need a barrel change, also the 17HM2 operates on higher pressure than the 22LR, the bolt works ok, but due to the higher pressures you need to slow down the bolt so you put a heavier bolt handle on it, thus increasing the weight of the bolt which slows down the cycleing.

All you need is to rebarrel and set headspace in your bolt rifle.
