Default opinions on .22 long (magnum)

Looking to buy a bolt action.22 long (magnum) gun. Does anyone have any suggestions? Looking for something reasonably accurate and reasonably(under $600) priced. Thanks

If I'm correct there's a difference between a 22 long and a 22 mag. A 22 long is between short and LR, and a mag bigger than the LR. Anyways...I think you can spend much less than 600 bucks to get a very reliable and accurate 22 mag. I'd check out some from Marlin: http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/22WinMagnum/983.aspxor Savage: http://www.savagearms.com/93g.htmHigher priced models are available from CZ; you'll gain some on quality but probably not much on accuracy. Those would run you around $400.

The rest of your moneycould purchase some pretty goodscope rings, scope, and lots of ammo

Savage's shoot very well. As do the CZ's.

Take your pick from Marlin, Savage or CZ and you can't go wrong.

.22 long and .22 magnum are two different cartridges.

.22 short, .22 long, .22 long rifle (the most common) and .22 magnum are the common types of .22 rimfire available right now.

You're most likely wanting to ask about .22 magnum which is not .22 long.

I have a Marlin 22Mag with a 3-9 power scope. I can consistantly hit 2in. clay disks at 150yards with it. I also have a Ruger 10/22 with a 3-9 power scope that I can do the same at 100yards just alot cheaper on ammo.

There are marlin, savage and mossbergs out there in .22wmr that are pretty cheap, next step up would be (in my opinion only) ruger M77-22m.
It's hard to beat or mess up a .22 mag. I,appartently a minority since the .17s came along feel the .22mag is the only logical step between a rimfire and a centerfire for those that don't reload.
