Default Lengthening Forceing Cone ?

I have a Tikka in 2 3/4 shell length that I want to lengthen to 3". The gunsmith said he can do it easily but would lengthen the forceing cone at the same time, is it a good idea to lengthen the forceing cone? I have read it is good but I get my ammo from Nitro and they say never lenghten the cone. I would like to shoot a factory load in this gun for turkeys.

Thanks,
Jim

I don"™t know about a turkey gun but I had my Beretta done a while back when we had to start using steel shot instead of lead for migratory game birds. Never had any problems from what I could tell...

I've never had this done but it's common practice with some of my friends who trap shoot. Lengthing the forcing cone for trap shooting improves the shot pattern. The way my buddy explained it is the longer the forcing cone the shot comes out of the shell into the barrel and it is less likely for the shot to deform and cause erractic pattern

I did on an 870 turkey gun. And lengthening it made marginal improvement to the pattern. You can lengthen it too much they claim.
