Default EOTech Battery Life

What are you folks getting for battery life on the EOTechs? I have the 511, uses the N type batteries. The original set died on me after a few trips to the range. Based on the stated battery life of about 200 hours even if I forgot to turn it off after every trip I wouldn't have gone through half the charge.

Should I be taking the batteries out between trips?

You just have to make sure it's completely off after use. It has an 8-hour cutoff, but if the hologram iscrankedup, the battery will be half dead by that point. I hit the down arrow until I can't see it, and then hit it a few more times.

The factory batteries aren't very strong tobegin with, so if you get some decent replacements and turn the sight off, you should be able to get close to 200 hours on the lower settings.

Thanks for the info. I need to stock up on batteries. I'd hate to be caught with dead batteries whenthe zombies finally show up.

LOL, yeah, youknow those zombies don't respond to anything but deadly force.

Shop around online or at gun shows (most guys selling electronic optics will have them). I went to Best Buy, Circuit City, and Radio Shack only to encounter blank stares and frantic searching of the shelves for anything with an "N" on it.

Unholy batter life. My 512.A65 SAYS it will get up to 1100 hours on good AA batteries. I don't bet on that, but it's had the same batteries in it since I bought it. GREAT optics.
