Is the 870 Express the best all around gun

I think if you use every gun in the harshest weather the 870 is the most durable gun and best money spent on the market.

It's a good one, that's for sure.

I hesitate to pick any one gun as superior to all others, though. Maybe one that I think has more to offer in each gauge/caliber, but not across the board.

so i thought about getting a beretta 391 Xtreme 2 but it's a goos skeet gun but what about a waterfowl gun

If you're looking for a pump shotgun I won't hear any name but Remington 870.

For roughly 230 bucks you can NOT get a better pump.

I'm not sure the Beretta and Remington pump are in the same category to compare....Both are good guns, and both will suit your needs just fine.

I think the 870 is one of the greatest guns ever produced and probably the most purchased pump shotgun ever. My 870 Express Combo I purchased many years ago didn't fair to good in harsh weather. The problem wasn't the mechanicals but the wood. Got caught in a downpour years ago, cleaned the gun real good at the end of the day and the next day the forearm had a split from one end to the other. I replaced the cheap wood witha syntheticRemington replacement stock and forearm from Cabela's for around $80.

I totally agree...

The Remington 870 has been around forever and is the most reliable, most rugged, most darn near indestructible, pump gun around. Pretty much everyone has one or has at least shot one.
