Default 200 yard Zero for '06 Core Lokts

Ok so I've sighted in my rifle for about 1.6 low at 25 it's dead on at 50 where do I need it to hit at 100 to have it on at 200 yards? 30-06 Remington SP Core Lokt 150 grain is what I'm throwing at it.
The Remington balistics chart says 1.7 high at 100 to be zeroed at 150 but I want zero at 200.

According to Remington's website, 1.8" high at 100yards yields 1.6" high at 150, zero at 200, -3.2" at 250 and -8.2" at 300.

Yep, 1.8 inches. I rarely have trouble hitting the X at 200 yards on the first group with that zero.

2" high at 100 yards is a good P.O.I. at 100 yards for a 30-06 and most other deer rifles. That will get you close to dead on at 200 yards.

Are we splitting hairs here...??.......

Seriously, can you hold to 1/4" at 200 yards, or even 100 yards, under hunting conditions...??....

ABOUT 2" high at 100 with MANY similar centerfire rounds, such as .270, .280, 7mm08, .308, 30-06, 7mm mag, yada yada yada will get you ABOUT zero at 200 yards, give or take that 1/4" or so.... Might make a difference if you are shooting deer MICE, but not if you are shooting deer...

Let's make it even simpler, like Jack O'Connor did in a magazine article back in the mid 60s...

Take any one of those very similar cartridges ( like the ones I mentioned and about 20 others) and simply sight them DEAD ON at 25 yards...

Then check 'em atlonger ranges...Chances ARE they will be a couple inches high at 100, a little high at 200, close to dead on at 250 and a few inches low at 300... Just hold on center chest on a deer sized critter anywhere from point blank to 300 yards and squeeze the trigger..How complicated is that...??...

I was just thinking about that... If I set a target up at 25 yards were would the group have to be at 25 to be dead ob ot 100 yards???

The best way to know where you are at a given distance is to shoot at that distance. Tables may get you close but they are no substitute for actually shooting your rifle.

im like pygmy...i zero my deer rifle at 50yds. heck...50yds is a far shot here then i shoot it at 100 and 150..summer time ill zero at 100...cause its groundhog shootin time...

frizzellr is also right on...tables will get ya close...but dont rely on them. different barrel legnths, lots of shells, wind, etc etc will play its hand in where your bullet ends up

Get you a very big piece of cardboard( such as a refrigirator box or big screen tv ) set it up at fifty yards, bore site, and adjust. If you hunt take the time to go into the woods in a safe place where the bullet can safely stop and zero. Don't trust theoretical equations. I don't ever predict I can make a two hundred yard shot myself because I'm not that confident. I'm a stalker just a little bit. Not to mention my 270. Practice is the key. Know your rifle.
