It was made in 1944 in Yougoslavia

They weren't made until 1954...
The markings on the side of the receiver should read something like Preduce 4 which translates to 'factory 44.' The crest on the receiver has a date of 1943 which is the date of the unification of Yugoslavia.
M48 production didn't start until 1952, M48A production started in 1954.
If its truely unissued and in pristine condition, its worth over $200. If its not unissued, its worth somewhere between $100-150.
FWIW, unissued M48 and M48A rifles sold for $169 about 5 years ago, and there were a lot of them around, I bought 2 of them myself. Mitchell's sold them for and still sells them for around $400. Mitchell's sells rifles that Mitchell's cleaned up and refurbished for around $250- neither grade of rifle that Mitchell's sells is really worth their prices.
