Default Stock Bedding Question???

I have a Savage 12FVSS, and a Richard's Thumbhole stock(unfinished). I would like to have the barreled action bedded to the stock. I am looking for two suggestions. The first is How should I have it done(any particular method)? And the second is who can I have do it? I am wondering what would be a reasonable price to pay, to have the action bedded, and the stock finished? Does anyone know someone who could do the job in a reasonable amount of time? The stock is suppose to 99% inletted. Thanks, Tom.

Default RE: Stock Bedding Question???

I did a complete job and documented it on here. I will do one again, even though the first didn't turn out that great. My gunsmith charges 60-80 dollars for a glass bed job. You can always pillar bed too.

Default RE: Stock Bedding Question???

most smiths charge around 100 bucks to finish inlet and cut to length and install a pad, shim bedding is usually around 60-75 bucks, unless you have a custom heavy barrel I wouldn't pillar. the smith could hog the holes out to about 1/2" and fill with glass, just as stable with a light barrel.
the final exterior finishing is easily done at home.
