Default Bead bag

Yesterday i went to a local craft store and purchased 6 pounds of bulk holeless glass beads. The woman working was quite puzzled why a guy in a camo sweatshirt and a camo hat would be buying craft beads. So i explained to her i was going to use them in a benchrest bag. She didnt get it so i went to the truck and got the bag and she finally got it. So i came home last night and filled the bags and got them all ready to test after school today. I didnt do deep extensive testing but they do provide a solid rest and i like the fact they will not draw moisture or hold moisture. anyone else use beads in thier bags?

I like good ol lead shot as good as anything I've ever tried. Rock solid.

Never thought of glass beads, neat idea. I just use rice.

I also find it to be a excellent idea. I just came across three old lead shot bags just kicking around waiting to be used...

I use wheat in mine, I get it for free from the farmer that I usually kill groundhogs for. The only drawback is it cannot be left out in the rain. Wheat is cheep

I use cheap birdseed in empty shot bags. Works well and is light weight.

Have to give it a try. What size were the beads? I always used lead shot or the sand bags provided, but guess now I know what to do....

Im not certain the exact size due to the misplacement of my calipers. But with the trusty old ruler im gonna say about a sixteenth of an inch. They are a bit smaller than 1/8th but a touch bigger than 1/16. I too have tried rice and it works but i kinda like the bead idea.

I shoot alot of long range, target and hunting, I need something light so I use a piece of close cell foam shaped like a wedge of cheeze, covered with a piece of filter bag, works awesome for a rear bag for use with a bipod
