Hey guys, now that i have bought my first shotgun and fired it and played with it, i have decided i want to buy a muzzleloader. What is a good, cheap, first muzzle loader that if i decide i don't like it, it really won't break the bank?
I have shot lots of ML's but never really owned the entry level ones myself, by this I mean the CVA/Tradition/NEF price range. Withthis in mind,I'd suggest the TC Omega Z5 or NEF Sidekick for the low end new.
However, try posting your question in the BP forum here, you'll get better responses and their are some gents that are well equipped to help you that don't frequent this forum often.

Everyone's bank account is different.
How much are you spending for the rifle-only?
Do you want an inline or side-hammer?

if its your first i would recommend an inline, just for the ease of use. Brands, hmmi shoot a T/C encore, and T/C's omegas are supurb muzzys as well but i dont really consider then cheap.Im sure if you look around you can find a new omega for around $250. if thats too much cash i would then recommend any CVA. Everyone i know who has one says they shoot great. and for $99 for theWolf model (i think) you cant go wrong. for the price they are an excellent rifle. good luck!!!!
Bought a Traditions LT for my son. Break open style, 209 primer. Nice little gun with the only problem being the ram rod that can not sit in position under the gun ready to use (you have to unscrew the end, reverse it before you can ram down the next shot). It hasn't been a difficulty though because the 3 deer he has taken with it in the last 2 years have gone down with the first shot. Put a Bushnell 4 times fixed scope on it. He is dialed in at 100 yards. 2 of the 3 deer were between 110 and 120 yards. I also use Lee mini balls, which I cast for it, which keeps the expense down for he can practise all day for the cost of powder and primers.
