Default Picked up an "old school" AR15

I just picked upa 1974 AR15 SP1 a few days ago. I traded a Ross 334 straight up for it.

It's in pretty good shape and is all original. It came with two 20 round mags, one in good shape and the other not so good shape. I also got the original Colt scope and sling.

To say I'm happy is an understatement, here are a few pics.....just wanted to share.

Wow, that's pretty cool. You don't see those every day. Take some pics of your first groups and let us know how it shoots. Congrats, enjoy.

You have a great old gun there. I have owned several SP1's over the last 10 years, and all were very accurate even with cheap ammo.

Just like the first I ever put my hands on. It does look in great shape for what is now a 33 year old piece. That is almost hard to get a grip on.

I saw a stat the other day that the AR15/M16 has now had the longest run of service for the primaryservice rifleof them all.

I have been looking for a Viet Nam eramade SP1 (SP1's that were made from 1964 to 1975)for a while now. I was not really interested in the ones made past 1975. I have seen a few but either they were way overpriced, mix matched or in very rough shape. This one has some slight scratches and wear but overall it's in good shape. The bolt carrier, bolt, chamber and barrel are in excellent shape, hardly any wear at all,it hasn't been shot much. The pics were taken right after I got it and the rifle hadn't even been cleaned yet, it looks much better now.

Like I said this rifle came complete with all accessories including the cleaning kit (with all components) still in the original wrapper in the stock.
