NRA Yahoo's Issue

Hello All,

I've heard others say similar things to what Campo said in another post about not wishing to be associated with the NRA yahoo's etc...

I can see this argument because I'm a member of the NRA and I subscribe to the magazine, "Freedom 1st". I too feel that in some regards the sentiments and arguments made are a bit extreme.

With that said, the folks who will ultimately take your hunting rights are equally extreme if not more extreme than the helpful folks at the NRA. The NRA does fight for your rights even if you aren't a member.

If you wish to benefit from what the NRA offers and not contribute, that is your choice. However really consider what it is that your doing for the image of the NRA when you refer to it's members as yahoo's, extremist etc...

I look at the NRA as fighting fire with fire or in other words extremism with extremism.

I heard a good line the other day. My boss was on the phone with a disgruntled party and he said, "I'll see your lawyer and raise you a lawyer. Now where do we stand."

Without the NRA you can't even see. Lol. The pockets of our oppressors are deep.

Preserve our 2nd amendment rights.

Your (little!!) post reminds me of something once said by that champion of liberty, SEN. Barry Goldwater:

"Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice!" LBJ made him look likea crazy nut-case, then proceeded to lose the Vietnam War for us. If Goldwater had been President instead of LBJ, ..........

I want to join the NRA, but I'm still broke and in debt from getting my rifle, but I'll join in the summertime, by then I'll have at least $40.00 to spare.

That's the spirit YoungGun243 and others like you. If we as hunters, gun owners and those who value our civil liberties including owning and use of firearms do all that we can to fight against those who are trying to take this all away from us and generations to come, we can again defeat them. But it will take all of use fighting.

I was once in your shoes. I couldn't afford to join but wanted to. Now that I'm a bit older I pay for my membership and I've paid the first year for a bunch of family members.

There is a lot of pride in membership. I keep my card displayed in the see through window of my wallet so that anytime I open it, the card serves as a constant reminder.

Save up your change it isn't all that much. I think if you speak nicely with the representative they'll even lower your first year membership by about $10. There are also lots of websites out there that will pay the first $10 of your membership if you sign up through the link.

I've been a member since the early 70's.I went for Life Membership in 1977 and now I'm a Endowment Life member since 2003.I'm a strong believer in the NRA.They areby no means perfect,but what organization is?They are fighting for all of us if you're a member or not.The NRA gives allot of benefits that's included inyour membership.I know people including myself get tired of being hounded for donations. Fighting legal battles cost allot of money. They have to get the funds from somewhere.I can't afford to send money everytime they ask. I do when I can.I urge all gun owners to become members. We'll all benefit from it.

I try to give every time they ask for money.

I'm considering a lifetime membership the next time something on that comes around.

Being an Illinois resident, I need all the help I can get!!!

How well i remember. Was stationed at Ft. MacArthur, CA at the time. The post chaplain hated LBJ. He had bumper sticker that read: Light Bulb Johnson: Turn him out in 64." If he had been elected, Barry Goldwater would have done a much better job inViet Namthat sorry LBJ.

Amen! Speaking of LBJ, all his classmates and associates in college called him "Bull" Johnson - because he'd rather lie, even when the truth would have served him better......

I have a good friend, who has campo's attitude. Its a very sore spot with us.I hunt with him, but his attitude has almost made uspart ways. But I have decided its not worth itto just drop him as a friend.He sincerely just does not want to pay the dues. He's the type of guy that is always trying to get away with the cheapest but disappointed in the service he gets. He just follows a trend if you know what I mean all thru his life, trying to get other people to pay or fight the battle for him.

Instead of paying for a proshop an extra 50-80 dollars, for a bow, he would search night and day on ebay, and find one he considers a deal, then he would take to the proshop his new bow, and arrows he also got on ebay, and expect top rate service to set the bow up.

What boggles my mind, is people like Campo and others really feel they would be fine without the NRA. They really feel in thier isolated local town, they will not be bothered.

Do I agree with all NRA's ways or even directors? No way. But you have to have extreamist to fight extremist.If NRA was wishywashy or moderate, ceasefire,brady, etc would roll over us, with pita, humane society, freinds of earth right behind them hanging on thier coattails. Thats a fact man. I have been all traveling almost all contients. I am not saying that bragging but trying make a point. I have seen what happens when you don't make a stand. Austrailia has lost its big fight. They are constantly losing hunting rights. Ammo and hunting gear is outrageously priced. If a person can't grasp that, your wasting your time talking about it.

The NRA has gotten rather silly and crappy in the last few years solicitating us with junk to buy, like sending videos and crap to our house, and expecting us to take the time to send back, or send them money. I feel thier mailing can be modified to not be so intrusive or aggravating.
