Default shotgun

Hi all,
I'm going tostart looking for a new shotgun soon. I have to admit that I don't know a lot about the pros and cons of the different brands out there and was hoping for some advice. I currently hunt with a Mossberg 500 that I bought back inschool and its been jammingalot on me and I'm ready for something new.
I will mainly be using the gun for turkey hunting. However, I do go duck hunting a few times each year and occasionally make a dove hunt.
My price range may be limiting as I'll have trouble justifying spending more than about $500.
Thanks for the advice.

Spend a few bucks (not $500)and take the gun to a gunsmith to find out what the problem is.

Let me reword this...I want a new gun. I will get my current gun fixed and will probably give it to one of my nephews to use. I am just curious what you guys think is a good all around shotgun in the price range I had metioned.

See if your local walmart carries guns, and see if they stock, or can order, one of their basic Beretta 390's
Yep.

Also one of the 3901s or any of the used older 390s. Some of the best made at any price.

With the exception of the BPS, [unless you can find one on sale. and if you could I would recommend that you buy it.] most pumps are going to be in your price range. Find the gun that feels best to you and buy it. Just a thought though, the BPS is set up just like the Mossberg as far as safety and action release goes. The transition would be effortless.

Do you want to stick with a pump, or go to an auto, double barrel, etc?

Pump I would say in this order. BPS, 870.
Auto - Stoeger 2000, 11-87 (11-87 might be in that price range, not sure as I haven't priced one for years now).
