I found a rifle that looks pretty good to me but I am uneducated. I found a Browning A-bolt in .223 wssm for $530.00. It has a really nice Nikon scope on it. I don't know much about rifles but I would like a varmit rifle that I could take a coyote with. I like Browning BPS quality but I don't know much about the A-Bolt. Any help Would be great. Thanks, Chip

The .223 WSSM would have more then enough power to kill a coyote at moderate ranges. The A-bolts are pretty nice rifles also, and that seems like a decent price for it.

A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.
I would personally stay away from the WSSM cartridges. I am not very confident that they will make it in commercial ammo production. If you are a reloader, go for it. It sounds like a fair deal on the gun.
I think the WSSM's will do just fine in the commercial market. Everyone thought the Ultra Mags wouldn't make it and they have been around for about 9 years.

I read an artical in my reloading magizine were a guy was loading them up to 4500fps with a 45 grain bullet and shooting accurately. That is impressive!!!!!! I feel that the .223wssm ,.270wsm and the .300wsm will be here to stay. But the rest are very uncommon around here. The .243 .25wssm, 7mmwsm are not doing well. That browning is a good rifle too.Get it and have fun!!!!!
Buy it , the 243WSSM is faster than the regular 243. That round has proven itself many times over.
I am getting ready to have a Remington XP -100 built in 243WSSM. This is plenty to take Coyotes out to 400 yrds.
Hey, if you live near MO or IL anywhere and want one of these guns PM me.. I work for a shop that has several 223 and 243 wssm in Abolt and model 70 synthetic's.. We can't get rid of them and will sell them at cost just to move em..
Cheaper than what your talking about.
PM me if interested.

Thanks for the input. demoIL I live in Ohio. I was torn between the .223 and 22-250. I found that A-bolt and thought it wasn't a bad deal. I thought I saw some posts about the WSSM on here but couldn't remember for sure.

the WSSM's generally look better on paper than a standard cartrage. But usually the differences arent that great. if it were me i would stick to the standard 223 case, the ammo cost is less than half of a WSSM, and its much more readily available. Aslo the WSSM's heat up FAST!!!! well at least the browning a-bolt(243 WSSM)i shot did, 5 rounds was all it took to get hot, after 8 -10 rounds accuracy dropped a lot.
