Default 7mm-08 ??

Just purchased an Encore Pro-Hunter in 7mm-08 for the 2007 Deer season in Western Pa. This is my first adventure with this Cartridge, and looking for some advise on factory ammo, and also reload info. I will shoot factory ammo this season, and then venture intoreloading for the 7mm-08 next. Any feedbackfrom experience is appreciated.....

thanks,
R1

You'll like the cartridge...Easy on the shoulder, accurate, and performs very well on deer sized game..

I've never used any factory ammo in my 7mm08 , but my friends gave had good luck with regular old Remington Green 140 grain softpoints..

I've had good luck loading 140 grain Nosler ballistic tips with IMR 4064, and more recently, with 120 grain Barnes TSX with RL-15... My rifle is a Rem 700 Moutain Rifle and shoots pretty well with most everything I've tried in it..

I would try the Federal Fusions first. The Corloks almost always shoot well and perform well on big game.

PYGMY,

Do you load the 120 tsx for deer hunting? If so, were you successful, and how did the tsx perform?

The 140 core lokts have been some BAD deer medicine for me. The Nosler solid bases I have loaded grouped well so far.

Raptor... I had used the 140 Nosler BT for deer for several years with excellent results...

Last year I read some posts in another forum about guys loading the 120 TSX in the 7mm08 and saying that it was the best thing since sliced bread ...Just for s***s and giggles, I decided to try it..

So far I have only shot 4 critters with it, a coyote, a whitetail doe and two wild hogs...Everything fell down dead right away and meat damage was less than with the Nosler...It's very accurate, recoil is light and shoots essentially as flat as a .270... So far , so good.....

Thanks Pygmy I wondered if those 120's would open on deer. I have considered trying them.

I bought some 120 grain TXS but have not tried them on game yet. However If they work as well as the other Barnes bullets, they will be great. The Sierra 120 grain Pro-Hunter is another very good bullet. I have used them in the 280 at about 2850 fps on mule deer. Very accurate bullet and tougher than the Game King.

DD. I am saving some of those Mulies for you.I sure didn't hurt their population any this year. Besides I might need some help dragging them out.

My 7-08 Rem. CDL LOVES 140 gr. Accubonds. Shot the partitions fairly well, as well as factory food. I shot one deer with the Accubonds this year, and it didn't go far, but I need some more experiences with it. My chrony reads it at just slightly over 2800 fps. with IMR 4350.

PYGMY,

Do you feel comfortable sharing your load data for the 120 TSX?
