Default Winchester Model 94 Feeding?

I just bought a Model 94 and was wondering if the cartridge rim is supposed to rise under the extractor as the bolt begins to go forwards? Or is it supposed to simply snap over the rim as the round is chambered?

The bolt should just push the cartridge into the chamber. The extractor will snap over the rim as the bolt closes.
