Default Tikka T3 or Remington 700 CDL

I went around town today trying to find a left-hand .243. All I found was a Remington 700 CDL for $645 and a Tikka T3 stainless synthetic for $625. Which is the better rifle? I would like to have a BDL but Remington doesn't make them in left-hand any more. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have a 243 CDL and i absolutely love it. I would have a hard time parting with it even if i were to get a Tikka. I am a Remington guy and always have been. I have heard and read nothing but good things about the Tikkas. If i weren't a die hard Remington guy I would definately consider a Tikka or Browing.

I bought my wife a Tikka Ts in 7mm-08 and it shots awesome. I have owned a Sako SS 75 (7mm STW) for 7 years now and bought the Tikka because of the accuracy of my Sako. Sako developed the Tikka brand before Beretta bought them both out. They guarentee 1" MOA out of the box and I can confirm it with my rifles. I just shot a Doe last week out around 400 yrds dead in the shoulders! Remington makes a good rifle, have a 700 mountain rifle for my son in 7mm-08, but it is the second one because the first one didn't hold a good pattern with any bullet or manufacturer that I tried. I'd lean towards th Tikka!

Which one fits you better? Whatever flies to your shoulder "on its own" is what you want. Both oughta shoot well enough for almost any sane kind o' hunting.

The CDL happened to be the one that wanted to come home with me!

Good Luck,

FC

Excellent advise fit is the quin essential to buying a firearm imo. If equal both are good choice and i don't think you can go wrong with either. May come down to finish do you want wood on blue or syth. on ss??

BTW the CDL isessential a lower sheenBDL(minus the high gloss blued barrel/wood stock and white spacers.)

Skeeter- Doesn't the BDL also have a cheek piece and the CDL is just a straight stock? I actually like the CDL better, IMO.

Just buy the rifle that fits you best, either well will most likely out-shoot the person pulling the trigger.

I'm a remington guy at heart but I bought 2 tikka t3's this past summer and both of them are shooters. The bolt is so much smoother than any of my remingtons. I got one in 300wsm and another in 308. The 300 will shoot right an 1" and the 308 is in the 1/4" area on 100yd groupings. I think the 300 would shootunder an inch aswell...it does tend to make you flinch a little though. I'm going to put it in a lead sled and see how it does.Personally I would say Tikka...they guarantee it to shoot1"or better @ 100yds. Where's remmy's guarantee?? Get what feels good though. If your not comfortable with it you won't be happy with it.

yeah at one of the stores i got to hold a tikka t3. it was a real nice rifle. bolt was real smooth. but it just didn't feel right when i put it against my shoulder. that's why i didn't get it right then and there. i agree that you should hold and get the feel of the gun before you buy it.
