Default .300 Weatherby

A friend of my dads is wanting to sell mea hunting rifle for a good price. Its a Ruger No.1 with a 3-9 Leupold scope on it. But its a .300 Weatherby not .300 Win Mag. What is the difference in th two calibers? What is a good price for the gun (its about 90% condition)? How hard is it to find ammo?

Its hotter than a win. and it would be a great rifle, buy or let me know I love to buy it. ammo is easy to get, it is higher than most.

I dont think he would sell it to anyone else. The price of the ammo dosnt matter. I would get it for bear hunting in PA. Is it more comparable to a .300 Ultra Mag then a .300 Wim Mag?

What data is that? I reload for both, and no way you can get a weatherby to shoot a 200gr bullet at 3200fps. But you can with a RUM.

Using Norma MRP I can pusha 200 gr. bullet 3150 f/s in my friends .300 Wby. Mag. I would not mind owning a .300 RUM or .300 Wby. Mag. Good luck.

I don't have a lot of data on factory ammo for the 300 Weatherby but I would have to say that power wise, it falls right between the 300 Win Mag and 300 RUM. I had one and didn't really like it. In the field, the only place it really beats the 300 Win Mag is recoil. JMO

What is your load? Even Norma does not say they can do that. Thats a rare weatherby. Mine couldn't do that.
