Default TC Encore / Prohunter / 7mm STW

A questionfor all hopefully someone knows the answer. I am looking to get my Encore 7mm mag rechambered into a 7mm STW. Does anyone know if the Encore can handle the pressures of the STW. I have tried for months to find a barrel that this has been done to but have not had much luck as of yet. Any hekp or suggestions would be appreciated. I have sent a letter to TC but have heard nothing back yet.

I agree with RR, the 7mm STW isn't a whole lot better then the 7mm Rem Mag, until you do looooooooong range shooting. You should just stick with what you have.

I have an STW, and really like it, but rem mag is superior for most hunters. A rem mag can do some amazing things bullistics wise, and with 10gr-15gr less powder.

In the 28" Pro Hunter barrel, the STW should be a formidable 7MM. In a 24" barrel, it's not much faster than a 7 Rem Mag. Pressure is pressure. Doesn't matter a whole lot if you are loading a 7MM-08 to 55K or a 7MM RUM to 55K. There shouldn't be any problem with rechambering as long as you don't wind up with a little bump where the old shoulder of the 7 Rem Mag was - you can look at the cartridge specifications and try to figure the diameter of the STW's case at that point - but sometimes factory chambers are a little fat and often gunsmith's reamers are a little tight . . . . . Problem with the Encore/Pro Hunter is that you have no ability to set the barrel back if this gremlin raises its ugly head. If you don't already have the barrel, a safer bet would be to start with a 7MM-08 barrel.

Thanks for your info / insights. I have an 7mm STW in a Sako already and really love it. I thought if I could get a bareel done in an STW all the better.
