Default Looking for a 17mag

I am looking to buy a 17 mag rimfire for varmint control and plinking. I have looked over the Marlin and Remington. The stocks seem really short. Does anybody have a suggestion on a good quality gun for a good price. I can't find too many to look at right now. They sold them all for Christmas.

I have a Marlin 917V that is a great gun. My stock really isnt that short. It is shorter the most of my guns but its not bad at all to shoot.

Thanks for the input. I will check those out, A couple of shops are supposed to call me when they get some more in stock. The Marlin I looked at was $279. Does that sound about right. It was a bolt action.

Thats alot for a Marlin. My 917V was only $198 at Wal-Mart. Its a bolt action with a 7 round clip and a heavy barrel.

Had a savage heavy barrel with wooden stock. Had a Simmons Aetec 3-12 scope on it and it would put 10 shots in an inch or under at 100 yards. I think I saw one at wal-marts for 189.99. I looked at the Savage website and they said they have the accu-trigger now. Suggested retail at 238.00. http://www.savagearms.com/93r17gv.htm
