Default M70 SUPER SHADOW 300 WSM (ZERO)

I finally shot my new Winchester Model 70 Super Shadow 300 WSM. I was getting some pretty eratic shot groups with the Winchester 150 Gr XP3 ammo. I was kind of disappointed because the ammo is so expensive, and I used an entire box of 20 rounds but still finished without a zero! (at 100 yards)

I was told that the 150 Gr might be too light for the 300 WSM and unpredicatable, but Winchester says otherwise. I'm almost positive it's not from the flinch, the recoil isn't bad at all. I was thinking about switching to the 180 Gr XP3 instead. Some people say rifles are picky about ammo? I know it's not the scope, I have a Leupold VX-II mounted on it.

Any help or ideas here would be appreciated!!

It truly could be a number of things, such as loose scope mounts. So check other variables. I would go out, buy a box of much cheaper but still good ammo such as Wolf Gold ammo and again try to zero. I shot 60 rounds of Wolf Gold through my sav .300 win mag when breaking in the barrel and was getting 1" groups with it within about 10 shots.

I woudln't rule out the flinch, most of the time people who say their rifle doesn't "kick" are the ones who flinch the most.

You want to rule out flinching... Take someone to the range with you and let them load your gun and tell them to put a empty case in every now and then... You'll see if your flinching or not

The older gentleman in the store was telling me that before Winchester stopped making their guns here in the states, they pushed out some crappy material. Anyone heard that?

I heard they stopped making them also, by a few people. No one could tell me why though?

I know they shut down their stateside plant in PA or something. I heard it was union issues. Have you heard anything about the quality issues since?
