Default Savage Rifles

Does any one own a Savage model 340 or 840 rifle? Are they any good? They seem to be the only rifle under 500 bucks i can find in 222 Rem.

Are you married to that caliber? I'm very pleased with my Savage model 10 in .270 win. It was 354 bucks before tax and included a cheap scope. It comes in several different chamberings.

I like the 527, it is a good looking rifle. Until you get to that STUPID looking mag sticking out under the gun. I just cant get past it. I found a couple of older Rem 722's in 222 but they are running around 450-500 a pop. That wouldn't be a bad price but these are 50+ year old guns.

No, not married to it. But i had a Contender in 222 that i loved and i have dies and about 1000 empty cases. Plus i like oddball stuff. I am thinking of getting the Rem 700 LV SF in 221 Fireball.
