Default 30-06 savage upgrades

Just got my gun back from my buddy who does modifications on firearms (machinist is is day job). He added a muzzle break, recrowned it so the barrel would be free floating and he bedded it so it has some extra support.
I can't wait to get out and try it. It didnt' kick overly hard but will be much more shooter friendly now and should be accurate as heck now because it was pretty good before all this was done.

I am going to post a pic of the muzzle break when I get the time.

not to sound like a smart a$$ but why did you get a muzzlebrake if it didnt kick too hard?

I'm no gunsmith but I don't think the crown of the rifle has anything to do with the barrel being free floating.

I put the muzzle break on it just to make it more shooter friendly. That way I or someone (wife) else can practice with it for a longer period of time without getting a sore shoulder. Plus it just looks cool having it on there.
What I meant to say was it was recrowned as the barrel wasn't free floating from the factory

Maybe more shooter friendly regarding recoil, but will not be more friendly regarding noise.

You haven't shot it yet, I see. You should be wearing hearing protection when shooting it, one blast with the wind in your face can cause hearing damage in the field. I know and it wasn't even my rifle!![:@]

Good Luck

I'm still not getting this ... how does the crown have anything to do with the float or non-float of the barrel?
