Default New Gun

Alrighty, well I'm lookin for a new gun to shoot for sh**s and giggles and maybe take the random hog, coyote, sitting still bunny rabbitt. I'm leanin towards the AR-15 for its versatility in customization and making it "my" rifle. But man they sound like they're tough to upkeep and lube and all that good stuff. So I'm lookin for suggestions from everyone on a new gun. My parameters.....

Easy to carry
Easy to clean
Points well, with fast target acquisition and quick follow up shots
I don't care about magazine capacity
Light Weight
Lever, or Semi
Doesn't hafta be scope compatible but the option would be good.
Caliber can range from .223, 30-30, .44, 308 and such
Under 1500 bucks

Thanks all
Tom

Marlin is a good choice, though the AR-15's are not that bad to take care of either.

I've been wishing for an M4 (maybe an A4, I'm not exactly sure what it's called, kinda new to it). If somebody had some input on those...aka the people that have them for coyote rigs...hehehe

If I had 1500 bucks laying around that I had decided would go towards a lever or semi gun I'd get a Browning BLR (223, 308 or 30-06 so I could shoot surplus ammo....since the gun will be just for giggles) Then get a 1-4x scope to put on top of it.

OOORRRRR I'd get a 44 marlin. (Just because I think this would be the ultimate plinker/deer gun within 100 yards)

Either way you'd end up well under $1500

And here is my plinker. Fits most of your catagorys except its not very light and its 7.62x39. If you can get past those things it makes a grate hog gun. And totaly fun to shoot. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d9...g?t=1167827133

Marlin came out with a new long barrel 30-30 that looks great.
