I was just wondering if it is legal for me to go and buy one? I just want one, I will not be hunting with it.

They are legal in most states- except california of course. If you really want one, I wouldn't wait too long, they are a top priority to banwith the antigun democratic congress[:@]

Check with your state regs but, as mentioned, they are legal in the majority of states.

May I suggest a Barrett M82A1: http://www.barrettrifles.com/rifles/rifles_82A1.htm or a Barrett M95: http://www.barrettrifles.com/rifles/rifles_95.htm. If you're wanting something a little more economical how about a Barrett M99: http://www.barrettrifles.com/rifles/rifles_99.htm. Oh the choices!

they are a lot of fun. My reccomendation has nothing to do with the rifle itself. My reccomendation is make sure you can find a long distance range to shoot it (500 yards at least). Shooting a 50 at 200 yards is like driving a Ferrari in a 20 MPH zone. It just doesn't cut it. And the 50's I have shot, really did not have very good accuracy out to 200 yards. Double that distance, and then it gets interesting. Good luck, and have fun.

[align=left]you can have them here, but then again mississippi doesn't really seem to have very strict gun laws.

Most ranges don't allow them. I've wanted one for a long time. Mainly just to have it. The price, lack of places to shoot them, and the cost of the ammo have kept me from buying one.

Why? It's just a bolt-action rifle! If they're going to ban a .50 BMG, they might as well ban the .30-06 and all the other high-powered rifles.

Those things are expensive too, it's not like some gangleader in the Bronx will get one. They'll get a cheap 9mm pistol from the black market!

Yeah, the 50bmg is one helluva deer rifle, not, but you had better keep your shots limited to 150 yards or less, not. Oh, and they arent very good at killing anything over deer sized game, not. And dont even think about trying shots out to 1000 yards or more, they just arent worth a crap, not. And last but not least, they dont kick a lick, not. I dont understand why the govt. would want to ban something that is barely more powerful than a Red Ryder BB gun. [&:] Not.... Oh waite, they already did that somewhere over on the east coast. (I think it was Maine, but I may be wrong, sorry). Oh man, I can feel the flames coming already lol.
