Remington 700 BDL .270 WSM
I'm thinking of getting a 700 BDL in .270 Winchester Short Mag. Anyone have any eperience w/ this cal. in a 700? What do you think about it, how does it shoot w/ what loads? I'm interested in this rifle for deer sized game.

Frankly, I'd be surprised to see the Winchester/Browning-developed caliber chambered in a Remington while the latter company is still attempting to drum up support for their ever so slightly shorter 7 mm and .300 Remington Short Action Ultra Mag, etc....
(The latter two rounds are just short enough to fit within a Model 7's action length)

The .270 WSM, if it is commercially accepted, should end up proving to be one of the most versatile cartridges for North American big game. Short of brown bears, I can't think of anything it wouldn't be perfect for.

After more research, it seems that the 700 line only includes the .270 Win. not .270 WSM. I was just wondering if they were ever going to make the change to the WSM. Everyone talks about how the new short mags are 'better' than the older/longer cartridges. I guess it ain't worth fixin' if it's not broken though!
OK, for a similar question... What do you think of the Rem. 700 .270Win.? I know this one is made, a few friends have it and it shoots like a dream. What are your experiences w/ the .270 Win.?

The .270 Win has been killing all kinds of game all over the world for three-quarters of a century, and it will probably continue to do so for as long as man hunts.
IMHO, and that of many others, it is probably the greatest cartridge ever devised for killing medium-sized game at practical hunting ranges. <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

coolbrze0 I have a Remington 700 in 270.Mine is a plain old synthetic stock ADL.It has been very successful over the last several hunting seasons. Most of the deer I shot dropped right in their tracks. There was one I shot two years ago that I never did recover.I can't and won't blame the rifle or the cartridge.Just wasn't the best shot I ever made. Before getting the Remington look into the Ruger's, Savage's and the Win M-70.Rem 700's are a great rifle but Remington's quality has slipped over the last several years.
