Default Getting .378 Wby..... Question

Yes, I am going to go get a custom .378 WBY my friend has been working on for me tommorrow, and take it to the range, what recoil pad do ya'll recommend? because I'm pretty sure I'll be pouded into the ground, otherwise, because he didn't put a brake on it.

How about those Limbsaver pads? Or a Remington R3?

the limbsaver pad is what came on my Pro Hunter. great pad. i've never seen a pad that you can actually "squish" with your fingers. it almost feels like a sponge verses hardened rubber.

I would suggest a 25 pound bag of shot. Just kidding. I shot a friends 378 one time. It actually made me a bit dizzy(more than my normal dizziness). Tom.

Actually, if I had my preference, I'd put a dump truck between me and the gun, sometimes he really does make me mad when he builds a gun.

Yes you will be looking at 72 lbs of recoil from a 10 1/2 lb gun. About three times the recoil of the 300 Win Mag. You may soon have a shoulder like mine.

James, the gun weighs 8 lbs., and I am seriously concerned about hurting myself really badly. But, my friend, just has to have these guns.[:@]

I put a Sims Limbsaver on my 375-Remington Ultra Mag last year. The rifle still kicked hard. You will learn to lean into the rifle & hold it tight before you pull the trigger. When proper shooting form is used the recoil is not that bad.

The 378-Weatherby is a great round. Hang on tight & lean into it, or you will hate it.

P.S. If you hate it? I will buy it.

Get one of those Caldwell Lead Sleds, and put several 25 lb. bags of shot in the tray. I built one of these last month and had to test fire it before delivering to the customer. Lead sled served me well - no bruise, no pain.
