Default Need help identifying Remington Info

Hey everyone. When I was about 15, my dad bought me a rifle. It was a Remington 700, Walnut stock with Stainless barrell in 30-06. I was told it was their "Classic" model for that year but according to Remington, they have never made the 30-06 in a "Classic" version. Can anyone help me I am just curoius to find out about this rifle. If it is any help the floor plate of the rifle has engraving of a ram or elk on it. It has been a while since I have seen the gun since it is in the safe at my parents house. This is not the gun produced in 2006 for the 100th anniv. It was bought in the 1998-2000 range.

Brandon

I am pretty sure when the Classic first came out that it was made in several caliber's the first couple of years. I think the 30-06 was one of them. As I said pretty sure, but not positive. Then they went to one caliber every year-we have several. The 350 Remington Magnum is a dandy, and so is the 250-3000. I do not believe there was ever one with an SS barrel. Not even the 220 SWift. Tom.

The larger distributor's of Remington firearms can order special runs of a rifle made to their specs. I have the same rifle you have but mine is in 257 Roberts. On the box the rifle came in it is called a model 700 Classic Stainless. If you go to the Remington website they have a section for special run firearms. They also list their email and customer service number. Looking in the Blue Book of Gun Values they sometimes list some of these special runs and sometimes make no mention.

alot of times Remington will have firearms they sell on a limited basis, dealer only promos and such they don't list in gun books. I have an 870 with a full camo receiver and mag tube in Advantage Camo that is about 10 years old not listed in any gun books....Remingtons website should have contact info.
