I'm in the early stages of booking a Caribou hunt in Canada next fall. I current have rifles in 338 wm, 308, and 243. I can shoot them all very well.My question is, what one should I use. Any suggestions would be appreciated on rifle to use, and bullet suggestion would also help. I will be reloading my own ammo for the hunt...

The 338 Win Mag, hands down, thats a no brainer. You need to look at 225 Gr. NP for that gun as well.

If you shoot the 338 just as good as teh .308 then bring the 338. I'd load up Partition, Trophy Bonded Bearclaw, Nosler Accubond, or Hornady SST 225 gr.

Remington 700p LTR .308, Leupold Mark 4 Tactical PR, DPMS Tactical AR-15 sling, Federal Gold Medal Match 168 gr., Federal High Energy 180 gr.
338WinMag would be my choice with either Nosler Partitions or more likely Barnes TSX.

Take the lightest rifle you have. I know there are alot of suggestions about calibers and killing power. The problem is carrying weight where the Caribou live. The country is wide open.
I realize caribou are big, but they go down easy. I have only shot a couple, but I have been around alot of people who have shot alot of them, they all say the same thing. They go down easy. Tom.

They are easy to kill. A hunting buddy of mine has taken four with the 30-30 Contender barrel on the T/C Contender. 150 grain Speer Mag Tip bullets. One shot each. The longest shot was 200 yards however. I would take the 308 of those listed. Nothing wrong with the 338.
Holy cow, you guys are going to kill bou with a 338winmag? Yep, it will work.
I see them all the time in Newfoundland. I have yet to pay 2K to actually kill one and probably wont. Pretty stupid animals. At least woodland are. They actually will walk up 5 yards away from you, until they smell you. I am after moose. But most people there kill em with anything from a 243 to 300win mag. For bou, you just want something flat shooting.
I guess if it all goes well for my Caribou hunt in the very near future I should forget about my 270 WSM and use my 350 Rem. Mag or borrow my brother's 338 Win. instead......
