Default Savage Weather Warrior

Sorry for all my firearm posts! I'm in the market. Right now I'm looking now at a 30-06 Savage Weather Warrior. Has anyone heard anything about this rifle?

I had a model 16(weather warrior)in 270 wsm. The gun shot great but the stock leaves a lot to be desired. It is very flimsy and looks like a plastic toy. I have heard that the synthetic stocks on the varmint/heavy barrel rifles are sturdier.

I have the Stainless Synthetic heavy barreled Varmit model Savage. I really like the accu trigger and the rifle shoots well under one inch in ytpical Savage fashion. Mine is the 270 WSM.

James B,

Have you ever compared the stock on your rifle to the spoter weight barrels?

I have the same rifle your are asking about. The 116FLSS in '06. Only mine is a lefty. It shoots good, fairly light. The only thing is that IMO the stainless takes a bit longer to break in. This I suspect is due to the stainless being harder to machine than chrome moly barrels.

I've owned three Warriors and traded back to the dealer each time to another Warrior till I got the caliber I was pleased with. I have no complaints with the rifles at all. I did not care for the 7-08, the 223 was for my wife to shoot( that never happend), and now I am shooting a 243. A more versatile cartridge for varmints and especially deer. The 7-08 was accurate and so was the 223. You'll not regret the Weather Warrior.

Agreed I hate the tupperware stocks on the savage sporter rifles. Have a buddy who has varmiter HB .223 and it is not great either, though little stiffer than the sporter stocks.
