Does anyone have a suggestion of what type of gun rest to use? I have seen several out there and I am not sure which one would be the most efficient. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
A bipod is the best rest. But you should be able to pick up a cheap vise/rest from Wal Mart for under 20$, it also comes in handy when cleaning your firearms.
Several good rests out there. Bipods are not as steady as a good 3 leg adjustable rest with leather bags. Bipods are for field shooting.Without spending a lot of money you can get a Hoppes rest that's pretty good or a Caldwell with handy adjustment wheel.

RE: Gun Rest Suggestions Anyone?
I'm not sure of what we're talking about here......Are we talking bench rest shooting or shooting at game in the field? Totally different applications........
If you are interested a prone position with the shooting sling is almost as steady as some cheep plastic rest. Any rest that can be adjusted and locked into position will work ,Cabella's has a great selection, so does Midway.
when in the field it is hard to beat a good bipod but for benchrest i use both the hoppees 3000 i believeand the caldwell rock with a sand bag under the butt. if i recall correctly the hoppees with somewhere around 50 and the caldwell a touch more.
