Default Approximate Age

I have a Winchester 1894 and would like to find an approximate age on it. It has no safety (that I know of, other than half cock on the hammer), no serial number and is chambered for .25-35. I got it from my grandpa who in turn got it from his uncle who had a small collection. Any guess to the age? Thanks

It's probably from the turn of the century, or it's from the twenties.

It should have a serial number somewhere on it. These are the ranges I have here.

1894- 1 to 14579
95- 44359
96- 76464
97-111453
98- 147684
99- 183371
1900- 204427
01- 233975
02- 273854
03- 291506
04- 311363
05- 337557
06- 378878
07- 430985
08- 474241
09- 505831
10- 553062
11- 599263
12- 646114
13- 703701
14- 756066
15- 784052
16-807741
17- 821972
18- 838175

I have the ranges up to 1962 if it is not in this list I provided. I just dated a 94 in 25-35WCF for a guy, and his was made in 1927. Hope this helps, and if you get a different number let me know and I will look it up for you.

It should be on the bottom of the reciever near the front where the magazine tube goes into the bottom of the reciever.

If you post the serial I can tell you the year I have the book sitting right here.

yeah, I've put about 40 rounds through it. The ammo's kind of expensive and hard to find around here. I'm taking it out Sunday to see what kind of groups I get.
