Default Remington Pistols

I was wondering about Remingtons pistols.
I heard they were akind of long-range pistols, and people would put scopes on them and stuff. Anybody have any experiance with them?
How good are they?

They were the model XP-100 and variations. They were made from about the 60's unti 1994 off and on. Then resumed briefly again in 98-99. They were offered in various calibers like .221 Fireball and other varmint calibers, .35 remington, 7mm-08, .308 and a few others.

They are worth quite a bit but I'm guessing it's as more of a collector peice.

I personally have never seen one and I don't know anyone that has one.

I've got one of the originals in .221 Fireball. I took the plastic stock off and put a Fajen thumb-holed stock on it. It doesn't have a lot of recoil or muzzle flip, so I shoot it with a 3-9x rifle scope. I haven't shot it much, but it's a neat gun.

My brother has one in 7mm BR. Also rid of the plastic and put a nice thumb-hole wood stock on it. I don't remember what kind of scope he has on it. I wish they still made them or somebody would make something like it. A bolt action that is.

I have two XP100's. One in 243 for coyotes, the other in 308 for everything else. Both started out with 7mm BR barrels. I've built and sold/traded several of these over the past 25 years or so.

There are a few stock choices out there. Used to be more. I have an old Brown Precision stock that's nice. But I usually modify, strengthen, and bed the factory stocks. The factory stocks feel better to me and are more versitile for field/hunting shots.

How good are they? Strong receivers with short stumpy barrels and good triggers. I've never seen one that wouldn't shoot 1/2" or better.

Single shot handguns have become an addiction for me.
Here are my Remington XP-100's.
I hit 4 woodchucks in 4 shots with my 7br (the top one in the pic)at 294 yards from my picnic table to the ditchline behind my house the summer before last. For me that was great shooting.

After remington stopped making the xp100, Savage started making on just like it, called the Striker. I believe they have since stopped making those recently. There are still some floating around. I saw one two weeks ago in my local shop, and they offered it to me for 350.00 in a .308. I considered it , but I decided to go with what I really want, which is a TC Encore stainless / rubber with a 15 inch stainless barrel. Probably in a .243. If not that then I may have to get the 30-30 and shoot the leverrevolution ammo in it toget more down range energy out of it. But I will be ordering one very soon.
