I have MANY main deer rifles but have taken the most with the 308, 6.5x55 and 270 in that order.

Like James mentioned, I too have many, but have used some longer than some of you have been hunting

split time between 2 browning a-bolts . . . one in 06 and the other in 243

Havent been able to hunt with my 7 mag, but its taking the #1 open country slot. (Rem ADL w/ Nikon ProStaff)
My 'brushgun' is a Rem 760 in .308

I use a full blowncustom mauser model 96 in 6.5X55. With hands loads it is great out to 500 yards.

Well my new fav deer rifle is my new Ruger M77 MKII in 270 WSM, havent got one with it yet, but i am very excited about blasting one with it here in a couple of weeks,

It use to be a J. C.Higgins Model 51 .30-06 Sprg.with a Pentax Lightseeker II 3-9 x43 untill someone at UPS Lost/Stole it. Now it is a T/C Encore 209x50 with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40, or Weatherby Mark V Accumark 7mm STW with a Zeiss Diavari VM/V 5-15 x42. Good luck.
