Default new tikka rings ?????

Hey guys--got this new tikka here (7mm rem--just picked it up today) and I just can't wait to get out with it, but have to say that I am not impressed with the factory rings it came with. they look like they are maybe a millet brandtype thatlock the the scope in with allen screws on both sides of the top of the ring (you may have to make several adjustments just to get the scope seated properly, looks like)--they also look a bit flimsy. I'll probably just get some leupold rings andbe done with it, unless you guys have a lot of good words to say about them. What's the popular opinion???

thanks
hb

Those ringsshould be just fine.....I thought Tikka used the optiloc system?I love those Burris Signature rings and the Sako Optiloc with the teflon or whatever inserts. They grip like crazy and won't damage your expensive scope! Regards, Rick.

regards to you as well Rick. Somehow I have a feeling that we are not talking about the same rings though. These look like the "economy version" of whatever brand they are (doesn't say) and definately aren't part of any "system" as far as I can tell and have no inserts. They just seem flimsy. Now I'm no ring expert but have had difficulties with rings of similar nature, that is, to me, there's too many moving parts. anyways. take care.

Those rings that come standard with the Tikkas (that I've seen) are not Optilocks. They have no polymer inserts. They are a cheapie ...perhaps a Millet. The supplied screws are very soft too so I'd recommend getting some SS replacements if you stay with the supplied rings. You can get real Optilock mounts to fit Tikkas, but they are a little pricey. The tikka top is not tapered like the Sako so they are different. Check Burris and / or Warne for their version of Tikka rings or ringmounts. Leuppy's are o.k. too. I don't know for sure about Talley's or Conetrol's to fit Tikkas. Give each mfr. a call and see. Good luck.
