Default A field report on the Speer/Federal Fusion bullet..

I just recieved an email from my brother-in-law's father. He is the one that writes and tests all the loads for the Speer reloading manual.

On a side note: If you didn't know, theFusion is produced hereand my other close friend builds the vats and othermachinery that they plate the bullets in.

He (the one thatwrites theSpeer manual)just spoke to the engineer thatdesigned the Fusion. He shot a cow elk with it in a 300 H&H and recovered the bullet. He said it was completely intact, perfectly mushroomed and exhibited deep penetration.

Pretty encouraging. I'm not completely sold on them as an elk bullet but I'mglad to see they got good performance fromit.

Are they available for reloading? If not when. If yes, where?

I can tell you that they perform very well in the 270. Last fall I took nine mule deer with nine shots and they all perfomed perfectly. Yhae also were extremely accurate.
