Default What .22

Just wanted to get a .22 and was wondering what a good one to get is. Any suggestions?

What are you using it for?

The 10/22 is hard to beat. Any replacement or "tune-up" part is available because they're so popular. Most are pretty darn accurate too, regardless of whether they're an auto or not. Marlin doesn't make just. And savage makes a few...savages are becoming famous as no-frills tack-drivers. Browning makes a buckmard rifle that makes me drool, but they're cost too much for me to get one.

You're options are endless, the only one I've heard bad things about repeatedly is a remington (597 I think, someone hurry up and correct me on that). But I also have an old remington 581-S is everything you could ask for in a bolt .22

See where I'm going? You're options are endless unless you have a very specific use in mind. Then maybe we can help you narrow it down.

As said above a 10/22 is probably the best deal for the money. Can't beat it for $189.

Marlin 60 or 7000 you can't beat for the money. My 60 shoots 3/4" or so groups at 50 yards with high velocity bulk ammo. I hear the 7000 is a bit more accurate. Stay away from the cheapo Mossbergs.

Semi-auto...ruger 10/22. Plenty of aftermarket parts to make it as wild as you want, but you can start pretty cheap.

Bolt...for the price I really like my CZ 452 American. With a $10 trigger kit it's the best trigger I've used outside ofa $2500 Anschutz match rifle. Not to say there aren't better that I haven't tried though. Very accurate rifle as well.

If you are considering a lever-action, check out Henry rifles.

I have the standard model and it is incredibly accurate and never ever jams.

I also have to go with ruger 10/22. Nice little shooter plus like river otter said.
Plenty of aftermarket parts to make it as wild as you want.
