Default New rifle

Picked up my new rifle and scope combo the other day only to take it to the Gunsmith and have a trigger adjustment and fillers put in where the sights went. It's a Remington 700 BDL in 30.06 w/ a Leupold VX-1. I can't wait to get it back and practice then eventually get my first deer! Anyone have any advice, experience or wisdom to pass on about a similar gun? Thanks in advance.

Default RE: New rifle

I bought my first 700 Rem. in about 1970? and to this day they all have given me excelent service....

Same with Leupold scopes.. I bought my first one in about 1973? and i've had nothing but good luck with those too...

As for the 30-06, it's probable the finest all around big game hunting cartridge ever invented, and if i was hunting deer with one, i'd use 165 grain bullets... They work very well in deer sized animials...

I could go the rest of my life with the same combo you bought and hunt anyplace in the U.S. feeling comfortable with my rifle..

I bet your going to love your new rifle!

It ran me 950. Gotta sight it in. Most likely will zero it in around 100 or 150 yards.

The Rem. 700 is a straightforward bolt-action rifle. Nothing unique or strange about it. Just get in a lot of practice shooting......
