Default Mossberg Combo for a song!

I've always been an Ithaca man, but when my son passed his hunter's test and wanted a shotgun we decided to start him with the Mossberg 500 pump.

I'm sure it's not the best gun money can buy, but we got 20g (he's small)a bird barrel, a slug barrel with a cantelevered scope mount, a scope, three chokes, two cheekpads (one montecarlo style), and all the necessary tools for 249 American samolians.

Tough to beat.

That is a heck-of-a price. For a young shooter, the Mossberg has the best safety IMO. When I bought my son's combo last year, I was really tossed up between the 870 and Mossberg in the 20ga. The safety was a big issue, but I went with the 870, mostly because he liked the 'feel' better.

Yes that is indeed a sweet deal. With allit came with, there is no way you could go wrong.

I tried to get one from Dick's Sporting Goods last year (in 20 gauge also) at this timefor $299.99 (exact same combo deal) but of course they were out of stock 5 minutes after the "sale" started. Could only get on a waiting list of sorts. Prob w/ waiting list was they had no idea when more guns would come in, to which store location or what gauge. But from what they did say - I'd probobly still be waiting as 20 gauge wasn't anywhere near as "available" as 12.

I thought, "Heck, other store have a price match guarantee, I'll just take the ad to them." Right? Wrong! That package was an exclusive deal between Mossberg and Dick's so you can't find that combo at the time anywhere but Dick's.

No wonder it's called Dicks. I do not shop there anymore - period.

Doh! That's the reason I posted! Yes, Dick's. We actually went on Monday and they said yes we have them. But having moved my license was out of date and so they sent me to the DMV to get an updated one and when I got back on Tuesday noonish I got the display model. All they had left. But they did promise a rain check if they ran out.
