RE: 30-06 220 gr rem core lok bullets
Normally that may be true and I suspect that it is. However I have had the misfortune of hitting larger bones at pretty close range with 220 grain RN 30-06's I can tell you that there is nothing much left within a foot or more of where the bullet hits. When I was a young guy a fellow that I guided gave me several boxes of 220 grain 30-06 shells. They were in an unmarked carboard box and I don't know who made them but they just raised hell with anything they hit. Being young and poor I used them for a while until I started reloading.
That said, your lower SD bullets, all other things equal will expand more readily than heavier bullets. The best factory load for me has been the Federal Blue Box 150 grain shells loaded with Speer Grand Slams. The expand well, do enough damage but not excessive damage IME.
