Some form of red dot would be best for running short shots. For a scope for shotguns that won't break the bank but still is a decent enough scope, try the Simmons Pro Diamond recticle.

I have had a scope before and since have gone back to open sights. I have also ha had the red dot and since went back to open sights. As for a scope buy a Leupold Scopesor a swarovski. Anything else is junk. As for fog they make a liquid solution that you can put on scopes. If you buy something good you dont need to worry about it.

In your price range I would look at the Bushnell Banner line... something in the 1.5-4.5 x 32 range for what you're trying to do.

PS.. don't take running shots on deer.

a scope and running deer sounds like a bad combo. id stick with a good set of fiber optic or ghost ring sites with some oo buckshot. if you insist on a scope the banners get the thumbs up from me. get the one with the circle "x" reticle.

Shots on running deer? And just how do you intend to practice these shots?! But if you must.

Trizzle trazzle trizzum trum couple scopes might put um down.

1. If ya just robbed a bank.............Holosight w/ no mag or 1X/2X.

2. Some of those red dots are nice w/ no or very little mag. There are quite a few w/ very large objectives.
