Default so I'm at the gunshop yesterday and...

the salesman tries to sell me a .22 CZ for $199.00. Not familiar with the brand so my question is should I go back and purchase it. Is this gun worth $200.00?

I have owned 2 of them and wasn't impressed....needless to say I don't own them anymore. However, $200 really isn't that much these days...even for a 22.

It's probably the newer "American" model. If so, that price is about right. They're really good rifles. All steel, good positive safety, decent walnut stocks, and the triggers are easily worked (newer 452's come with adustable triggers I think). I have 2. One in .22 LR and one in 17 M2. They're both very accurate.

I have a new American CZ in .22LR. What an incredible shooter! In general they are a great gun! The only weird thing is that the safety is backwards. Pull back to go go live.

I paid a little over $300 (new)for my CZ 452 American a little over 3 years ago. I imagine they go for a bit more now, but that depends on the model. Most accurate .22 I've ever shot besides an Anshutz competition target rifle. There's a guy that sells a small aftermarket trigger kit for it with lighter springs and a sear sleave that you can install yourself. I went that route and the trigger pulls crisp and light, probably about 1.5-2 pounds. Quality is definitely there. CZ has been making firearms (CZ 75 9mm is most widely used police issue internationally)for decades, though not as well known in the US. If you want to look up more info, the manufacturer site is www.czusa.com. CZ also has a pretty solid following over at www.rimfirecentral.com.

I would go back and get it! I got mine 3+ years ago for $225 and it was worth every penny. They are very acccurate and well made. Can't go wrong with CZ in my opionion.

I really don't know a thing about CZ rimfires. But I have a CZ 527 7.62X39mm carbine and a CZ 550 .416 Rigby, and they are as nice and as accurate out of the box as any brand I ever bought....
