I was wondering who, if anyone currently chambers the 7x57 rifle in their line? I have not seen one in years. I have an old Military rifle in that caliber but its not a great candidate for sporterizing.
GENERAL:The 7 x 57 mm Mauser rifle was the standard armament of the Spanish forces during the Spanish American War. The weapon, firing smokeless powder, was far superior to the Springfield trapdoor rifle carried by most American volunteer units, and also to Krag-Jorgenson Rifle carried by the U.S. Regular Army troops and the "Rough Riders".
James, I had 4 back in the 70's and like a fool I sold them!

Blaser still makes them, but they are ugly and expensive. Rem & ruger used to make them, Rem stopped in 1995. There is an unfired Rem Mountain Rifle on GA for $599 and a bunch of Rugers as well.

Mine is a Mauser but I don't recall which model. I have shot it a little and it shot pretty well. I only fired it with the military sights ay 50 and 75 yards. Just looking at the cartridge drawings, it does not appear that one could rechamber a 7mm-08 either. I quess I would have to start from scratch. First I would have to figure out why I would need one. Thanks Guys.

Ruger still makes the No.1 rifles in 7x57. I've been thinking about getting a light sporter in this caliber myself. I love my 7mm-08 but really like the old rounds as well. I have a couple of old Yugo mausers that i'm considering sending to E.R.Shaw for conversion - one to 7x57 and the other to 257 Roberts Improved. Haven't decided yet - maybe someday!
Ruger #1 and CZ 550 are the first to pop into my head.
I have run across others, mainly small companies, etc just can't put a name to them right now.

I couldn't find them listed from CZ maybe I just missed it. After really looking them over, I think Fox Ridge custom shop would be the best option for a costom Encore barrel. The options are almost endless.
