Default 480 Ruger SRH

I have a 480 Ruger with 7.5 inch barrel. I have fired 40 rounds through it and I like it. But, i noticed that after i fired it, it was very difficult to get the fired brass out. Anyone know what the problem is? I basically had to pound my fist on the ejector rod to get them out...that didn't feel too good on my hand, let me tell ya. If anyone knows anything, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
PigDog

I heard about that problem with the earlier models of the 480 but I thought it was fixed. Is yours a very early model?

I bought it new earlier this year, so I don't think it is an early model. It was a very hot day when I fired it...90+...so maybe there are some pressure issues in hot weather??

I have no clue.

The early ones had some pressure problems but yours should be ok. I think the problem will clear up with a little more shooting and be sure to clean the cylinder well. Be sure the chamber has no excess oil as this can cause sticking brass. A friend of mine shoots one a lot and has taken a Grizzly Bear with it. He has had no problems but if it persists, by all means, return it to Ruger. I am sure they will make it right. One of those is on my Xmas list.. I hope Santa reads this.

James,

It is a great piece...if Santa gets you what you want, you will be a lucky man. Thanks for the info. I just called ruger and they couldn't tell me anything other than "send it in". I think I will try your suggestions first. The only problem is that I left the gun in Wisconsin with my brother, and I am here in Alaska now. I'll have to call and have him work it for me.

Thanks,
PigDog
