Micro Gooving in Marlin 30-30 and using Leverrevolution ammo

I remember reading an article in some mag about a year ago when Leverrevolution ammo was newly out. There was mention that Leverrevolution ammo may not be an optimum choice for Marlin leverguns, such as 30-30, that have micro goove rifling. Something regarding that performance would not be significantly better than other ammo due to the micro groove. Anyone knwo if there is merrit to this or not?

Well microgroove is made for jacketed ammo.And not that good for cast. I can't see why it would be bad.

It has to do with the twist rates. The micro groove barrels had a slower twist than the ballard rifled barrels. The pointed bullet is longer and there fore needs a faster twist than the same weight bullet in a flat nose design.

The only way to be sure thoughis to try a box and see what happens.

Bigbull, your right, that was what was stated in the article. That the twist rate was slower. I ended up buying a box and will give it a try anyways tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback.
