Default H&R (New England) or Charles Daly pump?

Looking at shotguns, getting this:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4665626
or this
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=2685488

Strictly for home protection, going for the 20 gauge youth so my wife can handle and shoot it. Any personal experiences with these lines of pump action shotguns? Leaning towards the New England, but the damn thing is out of stock.

Default RE: H&R (New England) or Charles Daly pump?

Let me say this, that you may notknow. I spent2 1/2tours in Vietnam 67-69 in the 5th Special Forces as a Sniper. I was also on the LA. County Sheriff's Dept. in 71-76. I moved to Zimbabwe Africa in 73-04 and became a Professional Hunter, and guide, not an easy thing to do. Where we are going with this is that I have the experince in eliminating. Your wifeis faced with two problems, one pulling the trigger,or just trying to scare the would be criminalaway. It is harder to shoot someone even when your afraid, than you might think. That moment of truth will only come to bare when the time comes. (#2) A shotgun is long and is hard to wheel, also it is easy to grab when avictim is frighten, and confused. A shotgun is heavy if you have to hold it with one hand, and open a door with the other. If you want home protection for her get a weapon such as a 9mm, 40Cal. Glocksomething as such, also have her attend a class on proper use, and in this way she will be in good shape. I am only trying to help you in your decision,I saw a woman in LA. fail to pull the trigger on a shotgun, but the suspect did'nt, when he took it from her. I shot and killed him a half a block away, she died 10 minutes later.
