Default Bushnell elite 4200 Question

I mounted a Bushnell elite 4200 on a Remington 700using Leopouild mounts and rings. The Rings are standard (low). When I look through the scope I can seeabout six inches of my rifle barrel. I called Cabelia's andBushnell. Bushnell was no help at all and cabelia's couldn't figure out why this was happening. In their opinion if I went to the high ringsit wouldn't solve the problem. I don't know if this is a bad scope or what. I put a Nikon Buckmaster scope on the rifle just to see if I would have the same problem and it worked just fine.Does anyone have a Bushnell elite scope that has encountered this same problem? Does anyone have a suggestion. The high rings may not work and if they do,Will I obtain just as tight a group as with the low rings? Thanks

If its a real low powered scope, then its nothing unusual at all. If its like a 4.5-16X40, then it is not normal.

All my 1.5-5's leupolds or whaever, you can see the barrel when set to low power.

Bigcountry, the scope is a 2.5X10.doesn't the imageof the barrel in the scope bother you when you are shooting? and how about the muzzleflash, does it blind you? I like the scopeand may keep it if the muzzle flash isn't a factor. Thanks

I have had several guns you could see the barrel at low powers including 4200's. Never really thought about it and never bothered me. Muzzleflash is in front of the gun.

I guess I dont' understand the question of muzzleflash. Only gun I can see where I hit long range thru the scope is a 204 I have and a 22LR. Any gun with "muzzleflash", you not going to see where it hit anyway due to recoil. Even slight recoil from a 22-250 can knock you off target. I guess I don't understand that point.

I have the exact same setup you do on a 700 7mm08. I will check tonight and see how it looks. I just can't remember if my 4200 2.5-10 did this. I know my 2-6's do, and my 1.5-5 do.

If the field of view is wide enough and the power is low enough then you will see the end of your barrel through the scope. This is perfectly normal.

Thanks,I never had a scope that Icould see the end of the barrel with.Bigcountry,it makes sense that a recoil exspecially from a 30-06,one wouldn't see themuzzle blastthrough the scope.A friend thought it might damage the eye. I guess I will just go with it and see how it works out. the optics in the scope really looks good. Thanks for the information. If anyone else has this scope let me knowwhat you think of it. Thanks

I just came home and looked at my 700 7mm-08 with elite 4200 2.5-10 and yep I can see my barrel up to 3.5 power. So I will assume yours is normal. Mine has mediums std bases and rings.
