On my 1895G in .45-70, I mounted Simmons Deerfield 4X scope I got on Ebay usinng a Weaver base and low Weaver rings. This scope is short and looks good on this rifle. A 'normal' sized scope just looks too long for the short barrel. But that's just my opinion. The Weaver mounting system is plenty strong enough. And a compact scope either in a fixed power or low end variable like 1.5 - 4X is perfect.

I used this on my encore for 204. But I am little leary to use it on a decent recoiling gun like a 1895. I went with leupold std bases, and rings. Just can't beat steel.

I think mine are the weaver bases with a Zeiss scope. I'm not sure the first ones they tried wouldn't work and the store recommended a different base and it works out great. I can check with my buddy to see what bases are on it because I keep it at his house.

I'll be mounting an older Weaver fixed 4X scope on the rifle.

I put Warne rings and bases on my .444 Marlin. They work great and are very strong. I think they look good too.

Looking at a one piece Leupold mount and Leupold 1" Quick-Release Rings Matte, Low. Quick release rings a good idea for this type of gun?
