Since I've started hunting I've noticed that I can't close my left eye and shoot with my gun on my right side. I've since moved the gun to my left side and close my right eye to take my game. It feels normal to me, but I'm right handed at everything I do. My gun is a right handed pump shotgun and feels completely comfortable despite my situation.
1.) Is this normal or wrong?
2.) Does anyone else do this?
3.)Should Ilook for a left handed rifle when I look into buying a rifle?
Yea, make a circle with your hands and hold them out in front of your face. Focus on a small object in front of you and bring your hands in to between your eyes. Kepp focus on the object though. your hands will automatically come toward your dominant eye. Let us know if it works for you. I am right eye dominant and shoot righty, but I'm a lefty. I shoot bow, rifle and pistol righty, but do everything else left. weird huh? theres some of us freaks out there

My left eye is dominant b/c when I put my hand over my left eye my right eye doesn't feel normal. My dominant hand is my right hand. I fly fish while casting with my righthand, write with my right hand...I guess I'm just a degenerate.
It's really not all that uncommon. A LOT of right-handed people are left-eye dominant and just don't know it. I don't think it's ever affected me in any aspect of my life other than having to shoot my guns and bows left-handed. My grandfather is the same way, but my father isn't (or so he claims...)
I'm left handed and shoot right handed it is very common. Though I can shoot with either hand it actually feels more natural for me to shoot right handed.

You can do either way. If you already havea right handed gun there is no reason you can't shoot it left handed. I've hurt my right wrist and have to shoot the bigger guns left handed and I don't have any probelms shooting right handed guns left handed.

Well my story is long but I am now right handed but shoot left handes. My auto's are right and my bolts and sidelocks are left. Find something that fits and go for it.
I knew an old fellow who since passed away. He was a right handed shooter but develoved cataracts in his right eye. What he did was get a 1" piece of aluminum bar stock and mounted it on the scope rings, got another set of rings and mounted the scope so it was offset. He could still shoot right handed but used his left eye. It was a pretty neat set-up.
I've also had a friend that was left handed and always shot a right handed bolt action. He could cycle the action pretty quickly but I've never known him to use more than one shot.
Being lefty myself, I prefer the left hand actions. The selection now is better than it was 40 years ago. Remington, Browning, Savage, Ruger, Sako, Weatherby and a few others now make left handed bolts.

I'm not as good as I'm gonna get - but I'm better than I used to be. "Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil - it has no point."
I tried shooting left once, and i could barely get the shot off it feels so wrong, haha. I do everything right-handed. It also pays off to be a right-handed shooter on accounta that alot of firearm manufactuers charge alot more for a left-handed rifle

Ban Canned Hunting. If you don't speak up against it you are part of the problem.
Well I am releaved I am not the only person who is a bit mixed up when it comes to this issue. I am left handed when i write and shoot. I do most outdoor activities right handed (throw a ball, swing a golf club or bat, etc...) I am left eye dominant but my strong side seems to be my right. I can shoot both ways but find it much more comfortable shooting left handed. I also have a right handed bolt as for some reason I find it easier than a left handed bolts
I cycle the bolt with my right hand as I usually shoot from a rest so the front of the gun stays there and my trigger finger doesn't have to move either.
My buddy can't understand how effecient I am able to cycle
