I don't shoot shotguns much but I just bought a Baikal double barrel and for a cheaper SxS it seems to be build pretty good. Baikal makes the Spartan O/U for Remington and is the same gun but I think the Baikal sells for a little less. I wanted a new LC Smith but I couldn't justify paying that much for something I will probably only shoot a couple boxes a year through.

Go to a skeet/trap range and look at the good used guns. For $600.00 you can getanice used O/U, good workmanship and good feel, and a quality brand that will stand up to use. I would much rather have a used browning orberettathan some Russian hunk-o-**. Take the used gun and a brand new "BAIKAL", shoot a thousand rounds through bothand you will see too. You don't have enough money to be throwing it away on a baikal and then having to save up again to get the gun you really want.Better towait now and save a little more til you can afford it.

I would like to have a Browning as well but it would take me 20 years to shoot over 1000 rounds through it. So it is hard to justfy spending a bunch on a shotgun. I paid $350 walk out for mine and it works fine for what I need. A friend of mine shoots a cheap pump action for skeet and does better than most people do with $2000 O/U's. I have enough money to buy what I want but I don't see the need to spend a lot of money for something I might shoot a couple of boxes a year through. I never said the Baikal was the same quality as a Browning or Beretta but if you are looking for a gun to use that is inexpensive and will still do the job they work fine. I've talked to a few people who have them and they are fine for a inexpensive shotgun.

Didn't mean any offense against baikals and I have played with some of their side by sides myself. Its just from the nature of the question I thoughthe was looking for something a little more.$600 is adecent amount to spend for a shotgun and if your already starting in that price range I would think your looking for a shooter as its far more than an entry level shotgun. 1000 rounds is not alot if you stop by a skeet/trap clayrange a few times a year or are a serious hunter. With a name like ducksunlimited987I'd thought he was intending on using it alot. Take care.
What about the Mossberg, Stoeger and BSA O/U's in 20 gauge? All retail around $400. Are all of these a complete waste of money? I'm looking for a shotgun for my 13 year old for maybe a couple rounds of skeet per year and maybe a weekend of dove hunting. Don't really want to go overboard on price, but he likes the look of an O/U and most are pretty pricey.

No problem, I understand and didn't think about his name. Like I said I like the other guns more myself and would of liked to get a LC Smith but I didn't want to spend $1000 on one.

Ok, I havechosen to geta Franchi 48AL 20ga shotgun. Its an autoloader yes, but franchi is reliable, light, hardy and pretty good in the looks department, and having a retail of 750 bucks, Im getting it for around $540. I do alot of dove hunting, every weekend its open almost, alot of duck hunting, a decent amount of quail huntin, and on from there. This gun will get a work out. I like the comment on my screen name. And hey, Im only 14, and for a shotgun, that aint much, but for me it is a hole in the pocket. Nice talkin at yall.
